Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
CVV test cases check that a payment form accepts a well-formed card verification value and rejects malformed input. They do not verify that the code matches the card. The issuer answers that question during authorization.
Three brands use a 3-digit value on the back of the card: Visa (CVV2), Mastercard (CVC2), and Discover (CID). American Express uses a 4-digit code on the front, also called CID.
The Luhn check applies to the primary account number, not the CVV. Do not add a checksum test to this field.
Most processor sandboxes accept any well-formed CVV, so a passing form does not prove the check works. Stripe test cards make this testable. Card 4000 0000 0000 0127 returns an incorrect_cvc error. Card 4000 0000 0000 0101 fails the cvc_check. Use the processor decline codes to write assertions on the message shown to the buyer.
PCI DSS Requirement 3.3.1 prohibits storage of sensitive authentication data, which includes CVV2, CVC2, and CID, after authorization. A test suite should fail any build that persists the value. This rule also means the CVV field cannot be tested against a production database. Use sandbox keys and test card numbers.
