Redeem your gift cards at any of our Merchants
Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.
Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
A card validator checks whether a card number is well formed. It runs format rules and a checksum, and it may look up the issuer from the leading digits. It does not confirm that an account is open, funded, or authorized for a charge. Only the issuing bank, through an authorization request, can answer that.
A Luhn check catches single-digit typos and most transpositions. It has no knowledge of the account behind the number.
A number that passes every local check can still be declined. Processors run authorization with the issuer, and that step is the only source of truth about whether a card can be charged.
Client-side checks reduce typos and cut down on needless authorization attempts. They are not a security control. A submitted form can be scripted, so the server must repeat every check the client performed.
Card security codes are sensitive authentication data under PCI DSS. They may be used to process a transaction and must not be stored after authorization. Full card numbers require encryption at rest and are out of scope only when a compliant provider handles them on your behalf.
Using card numbers you do not own is a crime in the United States under wire fraud and access device statutes. A validator cannot make invalid data usable, and no check on your side changes that.
