What is ONYX GiftCards?

Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.

What is a Gift Card?

Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.

How it Works?

  • Buy an Onyx Gift Card at these local stores
  • Give your gift card to friends, family, co-workers, etc.
  • The recipient can shop at our select merchants nationwide
  • Your friends, family, co-workers, etc. will present their gift card at checkout to pay for your item(s)
  • They will walk away happy with the best gift ever...the gift of Choice

Why ONYX GiftCards?

  • Save TIME. No need to run around looking for the perfect gift
  • Redeem from a variety of business island-wide. We will continue adding businesses as fast as ONYX grows.
  • ONYX Gift Cards do not expire
  • Cards are valued at convinient amounts to meet every need and occasion

Short answer

Card testing monitoring tools watch your authorization traffic for the one pattern that gives away stolen numbers being validated: a burst of small, fast, mostly failing attempts spread across many cards from a small pool of IPs or devices. The useful ones surface that in minutes rather than on next month's chargeback report, and they give you a lever to throttle or challenge the traffic before the fees pile up. These are merchant-side and processor-side tools. Nothing on the buyer's end needs them.

What the tools are actually reading

Nearly every product in this category is a layer over the same raw material: your gateway's authorization request and response log, plus whatever session and device data you can capture at checkout. Vendors differentiate on how fast they ingest it, how well they link events across cards, and how much of the response they automate.

Signals worth alerting on

I treat the first four as the core set. The rest are context that helps you decide whether a spike is an attack or a promotion that went live.

Tool categories and where they sit

Gateway-native rules come first because they see the authorization stream directly. Stripe Radar, Adyen's revenue protection, and Braintree's fraud tools all ship velocity rules you can tune without new integration work. Dedicated fraud platforms such as Sift, Kount, Forter, Riskified, and Signifyd add cross-merchant data and account-level scoring, which helps when attackers rotate through your site slowly. Edge bot management, Cloudflare or DataMeme or HUMAN or Akamai, handles the scripted side and is often the cheapest place to kill automated traffic. Chargeback alert services come last in the chain but tell you what got past everything else.

Setting up monitoring that holds

  1. Collect two weeks of clean baseline before you set a single threshold. Percentiles beat guesses.
  2. Write rules against ratios, not raw counts. A hundred declines is nothing on Black Friday and an emergency on a Tuesday in February.
  3. Stage the response: log, then throttle, then challenge with 3DS, then block. Jumping straight to block trains your team to ignore alerts.
  4. Route alerts to a person with a phone, and include the BIN, card count, and time window in the message.
  5. Review the rule that fired within a week. Most rules that never fire again should be deleted.

How I judge whether it works

Three numbers matter more than the vendor's dashboard. Detection latency, meaning the gap between the first test authorization and your first alert. False positive rate against legitimate new customers, which you measure by watching your manual review queue. And the ratio of blocked attempts to chargebacks filed, because a drop in chargebacks paired with a drop in approvals means you bought quiet with revenue.

One more thing: no monitoring tool fixes a checkout that accepts unlimited attempts. Rate limiting at the edge and a cap per card per hour do more than most paid platforms, and they cost nothing.
