Use a card test generator only for sandbox payment testing. Learn safe steps, processor test cards, validation, and compliance limits.
Redeem your gift cards at any of our Merchants
Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.
Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
A card test tool does one of two jobs. Format validation checks a card number against the Luhn formula, plus the expiry date and CVV length. Gateway testing sends a payment to a processor sandbox and reads the response code. Both jobs run on test card numbers that processors publish. Neither job touches a real account.
A pass on these checks means the string is well formed. It does not mean an account exists or holds funds. The Luhn digit is public math, so a generator can produce numbers that pass.
Processors publish test card numbers for their sandbox. Stripe lists 4242 4242 4242 4242 for a Visa success case, 4000 0000 0000 0002 for a decline, and 4000 0000 0000 9995 for an insufficient funds response. Adyen, Braintree, and Authorize.net publish similar tables.
Test numbers work against test API keys. A live key with a test number returns a decline.
Some products advertise live card checks or CVV validation against real issuing banks. Those are authorization attempts on accounts the operator does not own. In the US, 18 U.S.C. 1029 covers the use and trafficking of unauthorized access devices. Card testing against a merchant is a federal crime, and the small charges it leaves behind are the trace that investigators follow.
PCI DSS limits what a tool may keep. A merchant that stores the CVV after authorization is out of compliance.
Free browser validators handle Luhn checks. They are not a substitute for a gateway sandbox test.
