What is ONYX GiftCards?

Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.

What is a Gift Card?

Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.

How it Works?

  • Buy an Onyx Gift Card at these local stores
  • Give your gift card to friends, family, co-workers, etc.
  • The recipient can shop at our select merchants nationwide
  • Your friends, family, co-workers, etc. will present their gift card at checkout to pay for your item(s)
  • They will walk away happy with the best gift ever...the gift of Choice

Why ONYX GiftCards?

  • Save TIME. No need to run around looking for the perfect gift
  • Redeem from a variety of business island-wide. We will continue adding businesses as fast as ONYX grows.
  • ONYX Gift Cards do not expire
  • Cards are valued at convinient amounts to meet every need and occasion

A Stripe card test link is a payment link or checkout session created in Stripe test mode and paired with a published test card number. The top pick is Stripe's own test-mode Payment Link, judged on four criteria: it never touches a live card network, it produces deterministic results such as a success or a named decline, it needs no code to open, and it can be shared with teammates without exposing real credentials.

What test mode actually does

Test mode is a separate copy of your Stripe account with its own API keys, its own products, and its own payment records. Charges created there are simulated. The numbers you type are published sandbox numbers that card networks reserve for testing, so they cannot be used to move money. When you flip the dashboard toggle to test mode, every Payment Link, Checkout Session, and invoice you create lives in that sandbox until you switch back.

Option 1: Test-mode Payment Links

A Payment Link is a hosted Stripe checkout page you generate from the dashboard or the API. Toggle test mode first, create the link, then open it and pay with a test card. No server, no front end, no deploy.

Pros

Cons

Best for teams validating pricing pages, donation flows, or a checkout redesign before writing integration code.

Option 2: Checkout Sessions in test mode

If you need dynamic amounts, custom metadata, or your own success handling, create a Checkout Session server side with a test secret key. The customer is redirected to Stripe's hosted page, then returned to your URL with a session identifier you can verify.

Pros

Cons

Best for developers who want the integration tested end to end, including the return trip and webhook handling.

Option 3: Stripe CLI with local webhooks

The Stripe CLI forwards test-mode events to a listener on your machine, which lets you exercise fulfillment logic without deploying anything. Combine it with a test-mode Checkout Session or Payment Link and you can watch a full order move from payment to confirmation locally.

Pros

Cons

Best for backend work where the payment is the easy part and the follow-up logic is the risk.

Test card numbers and the results they produce

Stripe publishes a set of sandbox numbers that map to specific outcomes. Any future expiry date, any three digit CVC, and any postal code will satisfy the form.

These numbers are published for testing. They carry no value outside a sandbox, and pasting a live account number into a test environment is never acceptable, whatever the reason.

Mistakes that waste an afternoon

  1. Creating the link while the dashboard is in live mode, then wondering why the test card is rejected.
  2. Using a live publishable key in a page pointed at test prices.
  3. Forgetting that test and live webhook endpoints are configured separately.
  4. Assuming a successful test charge proves the live flow works, when keys, products, and tax settings all differ.
  5. Logging full card payloads from a test request, a habit that becomes a real problem later.

Which option fits your case

Keeping the practice clean

Test credentials exist so you never have to touch real card data during development. If a workflow seems to require a genuine account number, the workflow is wrong. Card data handling in production falls under PCI DSS, and the cheapest way to stay compliant is to let the hosted checkout page collect the number so it never reaches your servers.
