CVV Test Transaction: How to Run One Safely
A CVV test transaction runs a sandbox card number and its test CVV so you can check approvals, mismatches, and declines without real card data.

Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.
Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
Razorpay test CVV is 123 for the standard Visa and Mastercard test cards. The Amex test card uses 1234. These values work only in test mode, with test API keys, against the Razorpay checkout or the test API endpoints.
Expiry accepts any future date. Name and address fields accept any value. Razorpay publishes the current list on its test card documentation page, so check that page before a test run.
In test mode the gateway skips the issuer check. The CVV field still gets a format check: three digits for Visa, Mastercard and Discover, four digits for Amex. A value with the wrong length returns a field error before any authorization attempt.
Razorpay also lists test cards that force a set result, such as a failed payment or a bank decline. The CVV on those cards follows the same rule. The result comes from the card number, not from the CVV.
Test card numbers are sandbox fixtures. They hold no funds and reach no bank. A CVV printed on a real card is a different object. Card network rules and PCI DSS Requirement 3.2 bar storage of the CVV after authorization, and card data from real accounts cannot be traded under those rules. If a page claims to sell CVVs for live cards, the claim does not match how the networks operate.
Razorpay changes test fixtures without notice. Confirm the card number and CVV on the official test card page, then run one payment with test keys and check the response object for a captured status before you write assertions against it.
