Redeem your gift cards at any of our Merchants
Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.
Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
A CVV testing failure means the card verification value sent with a transaction did not match the value the issuing bank has on file, so the authorization was declined. The check runs during authorization, before any funds are captured. One failure is routine; a burst of failures from the same device or IP range usually signals card testing.
Issuers answer the card network with a short response code describing the CVV result. Processors then translate that code into a message such as incorrect_cvc or CVV mismatch.
Codes P, S, and U are not true mismatches. They mean the check could not be completed, so the transaction may still be approved under the merchant's risk settings.
Most failures come from data entry, not fraud. A customer may mistype the three digits, transpose them, or read the code from an old card that was replaced.
In most configurations it is a hard decline, because the value will not change on a retry. Stripe labels the event incorrect_cvc and advises asking the cardholder to verify the number instead of resubmitting the same request. Recurring charges that fail this check often need a fresh authorization from the customer.
Card testing appears as many small authorizations across many cards in a short window, with a high share of CVV and AVS mismatches. Attackers frequently reuse one IP range, device fingerprint, or email pattern.
Signals worth monitoring include velocity per IP, per card BIN, and per email domain, plus near-identical amounts and rapid retries after a decline. A billing country that does not match the IP location is another strong indicator.
Common controls are CAPTCHA, rate limiting, 3D Secure, blocklists, and reporting the activity to the card networks.
Re-enter the digits carefully, confirm the card has not expired, and call the number on the back of the card if the decline repeats. The bank can confirm whether the CVV changed after a recent reissue. Do not keep submitting the same card, since repeated failures can trigger a block.
PCI DSS forbids storing the card verification value after authorization, even in encrypted form. That rule is why saved cards require either a new CVV entry or a network token that replaces the underlying card data.
