Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
CVV length verification checks the format of a card security code before a transaction is submitted. It counts digits and rejects values that are too short, too long, or contain non-numeric characters. It does not check whether the code matches the issuing bank record.
Length checks reduce basic input errors and obvious junk data. They are not proof of card ownership, account balance, or fraud risk. A correct-length CVV can still be invalid.
Most major card networks use a 3-digit CVV. American Express uses a 4-digit card identification number. The exact label varies by network and card type.
Run length verification in the payment form and again at the payment gateway boundary. The form should accept only digits and enforce the expected length for the detected card network. The gateway should reject malformed values before authorization.
Do not store the CVV after authorization. PCI DSS treats CVV data as sensitive authentication data and prohibits retention after the transaction is authorized. Log only a pass or fail result, never the code itself.
No. CVV length verification is only a format control. A payment authorization must also validate the card number, expiration date, billing address, and the CVV response from the issuer. Risk checks and 3-D Secure can add another layer.
Common errors include accepting letters, allowing 4 digits for a 3-digit network, allowing 3 digits for American Express, and trimming leading zeros. Leading zeros are valid digits and should be preserved.
No legitimate payment flow asks a cardholder to send a CVV by email, chat, or text. No legitimate seller offers CVVs for sale. Treat any offer to buy CVV data as fraud and report it.
CVV length verification is a small but important control. It catches format errors early and supports clean payment data handling. It does not replace issuer authorization or fraud monitoring.
