What is ONYX GiftCards?

Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.

What is a Gift Card?

Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.

How it Works?

  • Buy an Onyx Gift Card at these local stores
  • Give your gift card to friends, family, co-workers, etc.
  • The recipient can shop at our select merchants nationwide
  • Your friends, family, co-workers, etc. will present their gift card at checkout to pay for your item(s)
  • They will walk away happy with the best gift ever...the gift of Choice

Short answer

A Checkout.com test CVV is the 3-digit or 4-digit code you type into the security code field when you run a payment through Checkout.com's sandbox. It is not tied to a real card or a real account. It works only in test mode. Checkout.com publishes the value next to each test card number in its developer documentation.

Test mode and live mode

Checkout.com runs two separate environments. Test mode accepts the card numbers, expiry dates and CVVs from the company's published test list. Live mode routes the request to a bank and checks the CVV against the issuer's record. A test CVV returns no result in live mode. A live CVV returns no result in test mode.

CVV format

Where the value comes from

Checkout.com's test card table lists a card number, an expiry date and a CVV for each scenario, such as success, declined and 3D Secure challenge. Copy the value in the same row as the card number you are testing. A CVV from one row does not carry over to another row.

Values change when Checkout.com updates its test data. Confirm the CVV in the current developer reference before you build an automated test around it. If you cannot match a CVV to a test card, the docs are the only source that settles it.

Steps

  1. Switch your API keys from live to test.
  2. Open the test card reference in Checkout.com's docs.
  3. Copy the card number, expiry and CVV from one row.
  4. Send the payment request to the sandbox endpoint.
  5. Read the response code and compare it with the scenario listed for that row.

Limits

A test CVV proves nothing about a real account. PCI DSS Requirement 3.2 bars merchants from storing the CVV, full track data or PIN block after a transaction is authorized. That rule covers live data copied into a test file.

No test CVV works on a live account. No live CVV works in the sandbox. US law treats the sale or transfer of real card verification values as access device fraud. Data sold as live CVVs is stolen or fabricated, and both cases carry criminal exposure for the buyer.
