What is ONYX GiftCards?

Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.

What is a Gift Card?

Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.

How it Works?

  • Buy an Onyx Gift Card at these local stores
  • Give your gift card to friends, family, co-workers, etc.
  • The recipient can shop at our select merchants nationwide
  • Your friends, family, co-workers, etc. will present their gift card at checkout to pay for your item(s)
  • They will walk away happy with the best gift ever...the gift of Choice

Why ONYX GiftCards?

  • Save TIME. No need to run around looking for the perfect gift
  • Redeem from a variety of business island-wide. We will continue adding businesses as fast as ONYX grows.
  • ONYX Gift Cards do not expire
  • Cards are valued at convinient amounts to meet every need and occasion

A card validator is software that checks whether a payment card number is structurally plausible. It runs the Luhn checksum, verifies the digit length, reads the BIN (Bank Identification Number) range, and confirms that fields such as expiry date and CVV length match the expected format. A validator cannot prove that an account is open, funded, or authorized for a charge.

Validation code is legitimate inside checkout forms and payment libraries. Using a validator to test card numbers you do not own is not, and buying or selling CVV data is a federal crime in the United States.

What does a card validator actually check?

Most validators perform arithmetic and pattern matching on the number a user typed. They never contact a bank.

None of those checks touch the cardholder's account. Only an authorization request through a payment processor returns a real approval, decline, or fraud score.

Why is card checking with stolen numbers illegal?

Fraud crews push thousands of numbers through weakly defended checkout pages, hoping to learn which ones authorize. That practice is called card checking or carding, and the tested accounts get sold as CVV dumps on criminal markets.

Buying, selling, or possessing stolen card credentials violates 18 U.S.C. § 1029 in the US, which carries prison terms and heavy fines. The FBI and the FTC both treat bulk card testing as aggravated payment fraud, and processors terminate merchants who ignore it.

How do merchants detect and block card-validation attacks?

Traffic patterns give attackers away long before a chargeback lands. Layering the following controls stops most automated testing.

What should you do if your card number is compromised?

  1. Freeze the card in your bank app or call the issuer to report it.
  2. Request a new number and review recent statements for small test charges.
  3. File a report at IdentityTheft.gov and, for online fraud, with the FBI's IC3.

Does a card validator prove a card is live?

No. Validation only confirms that a number looks like a card number. Liveness requires an authorization attempt, which merchants see and can block.

Is card validation the same as fraud screening?

No. Validation is a formatting check. Fraud screening uses behavioral signals, device data, and issuer responses to decide whether to approve a transaction.
